    Thanks guys.

After a lot and I mean a lot of messing about (had to buy a second hand PC, get an adapter and a cable, get admin rights to the PC as it still had users set up, install the drivers etc etc). Here's where I am with it.

I have managed to browse the hard drive and I have found some files. They seem to be labelled-"Roswell" which I assume are from the game Roswell Conspiracies. Here is just an extract of what is on there:

It would appear that there are files with disc numbers on, I am taking that as a good sign!
I am no expert on this in fact I'm less than amatuer, I have no idea what the files are or indeed if it is a playable version or not.

So does anybody recognise these files? Is there anything that I could show that might help us determine what is on there? How to I copy or image the drive so I can back-up the files.

    Thanks James

all this files and subfolders is some .HCD image for dev.box GD-drive emulator.
you can simply copy or archive whole 'Roswell' folder and make a backup for yourself, or share it if you will.

you also can make full HDD image dump, using WinHEX for example, so it'll be possible to look for some possible interesting deleted files.

Ok so I have copied the "Roswell" folder and had a quick look through. There are lots of different files, I have no idea if they can be used to make some sort of disc image that could become playable on a CDR via a retail Dreamcast.

Is there anyone that might be willing and able to take a look and possibly help?

Drop me a PM if you can.

The game seemed to be an enhanced port of a ps1 game. Seems to be cell shaded. Would be interesting to see how far they got.

You definitely, need to take a drive image of that unit, not just copy off the files. Entire other games or alternate builds could easily be sitting on that drive intact.

You are right, need to get it done.

I am away at the minute but as soon as I am back I'll get it done. Probably early July.

Can this be done via the SCSI cable with WinHex?

@dyer60 sure, WinHex is ok, or *nix dd dump
I really hope one day you decide to make public original/genuine HCD image files or whole HDD dump, not just homebrew .CDI file cooked by someone for rom-kiddies to play teh game.
