My suggestion is simple, have more mods able to help in the recovery of accounts... Having forgot my password (I changed them all when I split from my wife) I'm now having the most ridiculous time now trying to get my nearly ten year old account back.

I know kev is busy and most probably swamped with mail but this is even more reason to share the responsibility... This issue has severely impacted my activity and interest in the forum and I'd like to get this issue resolved.

    So yeah... More mod powers

Sorry.. account recovery can only be done by an Admin. That's not going to change (it's impossible with the new forum software - mods have no account powers). Without using the proper recovery process, extra steps would have to be made - very carefully - to verify you are the owner of the account.

I can see that it looks like you didn't use your own e-mail address, sadly. It's an ISP-provided e-mail.

Also, you now seem to be using a private IP range, so it's difficult to verify you. If you have the same ISP as you did on the old account, logging in without trying to mask your IP address would be very helpful. You'd need to PM an admin (Kev or myself) to get your address back... and if you go through me, I'll have to check with Kev anyway. I'm sure you can appreciate, as you've suggested your ex had reason to want to log into your accounts, that we need to proceed with caution.

The problem was you couldn't initially remember the email. You can't remember the pm in the mailbox. I have no way of knowing if you are you.

Remembering your passwords and managing your email contacts your personal responsibility.

See if your ex will do a password reset for you.

The email address no longer exists... Their are ways to verify who I am your just asking me to remember what I did and said months ago which I'm sure most people would struggle with.

Don't you have a tattoo? Sure if you write your username you have now on paper and take a photo like your old avatar might work.

I really have no clue, but I don't see why your ex wife would care about a forum about video games to begin with and sabotage the account.

He didn't say that, just that he changed all his password when they split.

I assume he used the same password (or same few) on all sites and just changed them out of sense of keeping her out of his stuff.

But on same token, one could say who would care enough to make a new account and try to get control of his old account.

The photo is a great idea though, assuming the picture is him on the first place.
