Thanks for the new pictures folks! I would have taken some pictures of downtown KC but there really isn't any reason to go there. I mean there really isn't unless you work or live on the West side of the downtown core. Soon with the arena they're building I might go for something...

The big six pack sounds good. Kind of like the Kansas town that has the largest ball of twine.

    @ the_steadster

I love the architecture of those buildings.

Cheers, its pretty much all mid to late 19th century, great sight to walk past on my way to uni each morning
I love how suburban US streets always have so much green (trees, grass etc.) - People don't always realise how lucky they are in the states that land isn't at a big premium, so theres space for aesthetically pleasing features

This shot was taken back in mid augest, atop the hamilton city centre, for my employer. It gives a good look at the city, and the huge steel mill that we have

So are you saying that's a mill in the background from the left to the middle of the screen? Dang! That's a big area for one place to cover.

Yup, thats Dofasco Steel mill. Its actually one of 2 we have here, the other, being Stelco, however, facing financial difficulties, they aren't as big as an employer they used to be. It really is quite large. There is also a rail car manufacturer amongst the steel mill too hehe

Yep, it's a shame that China can buy scrap steel, make it something new and ship it both ways and still make money.

Very likely. I think they call it 'konoki anoki' or something like that. I kind of tuned my wife out while she was telling me about it.

There was a beautiful sunset in northern Germany on sunday:

    [IMG][IMG]

Pretty impressive sunrise which has been actually already a couple of years ago:

I'm not living in Berlin but here are some fotos of my class trip to Germany's capital:

Heres a piece of (bad) german history. Most of you won't have seen this without assholes on the towers and beneath in the toll zone.
DDR Ex-Borderline. Look how incredibly crappy that looks! The whole DDR was a style-desaster! Now its something like a museum, we ran around on the whole place. Fortunately, this depressing place is a few hundred miles away from me :p

    [IMG][IMG]

In the bad old times, they actually recorded everything you spoke under the roof which you can see on the right picture.
I can't imagine that this happened someday, incredible.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok thats it about history :D
Heres the current Berlin which is really nice, lively and modern - enjoy.

    [IMG][IMG]

#1 A big shopping mall in Berlin, maybe the most famous one in Germany. The "KaDeWe", Kaufhaus des Westens which means "Mall of the West"

#2 The beautiful view you have when you enter the café on the top of the KaDeWe. You can even see the Reichstag and the highest building in Berlin, the TV Tower.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will take some more photos soon. I don't know how to call it in english, but theres a christmas market in town which means there are lots of booths where you can buy food, christmas stuff and so on. It looks very lovely here and also very german because of the old Middleage-style houses! If anybody's interested, I will pack in my camera next time I wander around at that place. :)

    "Einmal Reichstag immer Reichstag" :p
Bundestag is the word for politically correct people.

Only joking, I always confuse those 2 words. But look at google, there are only twice as much (picture) results for Bundestag so at least, I'm not the only one who doesn't listen to teachers :katamari:
