In one week my honda atc 125m that I have had since I was 12 has gone from completely broken to running well and starting on the first pull. I rebuilt the entire lower end (aside from the transmission) as well as the carburetor. All I have left to do is repaint the gas tank, fix the fender and rewire the lights. I think I might start collecting 3 wheeler's.

There was an episode with "planetary fill in the blanks" and one of the questions were "Sega ___ video game console." I can't find the clip.

How come every criticism on the site ends in "Your comments are noted. Nothing will change. Thanks for your continued support"? There are many users who value this community and offer free help, but it is always neglected.

As for the last thread - the large pictures may be intended, but are they really the best solution? Retro brought up a valid point (using smaller status pictures to enhance readability), and it was ignored and the thread closed. At the same time, you (Assembler) call out long-term members - who regularly provide constructive criticism - as nuisances (e.g. Bad_Ad), and that for very minor trolling. I understood his hihihihihi-exploit as a way to show you that you don't care how many times people offer you help - you'd rather just keep everything the way it is, flawed, instead of accepting the support you are being offered. At the same time, you expect more donations to keep the board running and openly call users ungrateful.

It doesn't matter what other issues may come into play to cause this behavior - I find it a bit sad that this forum suffers from small problems while having such a strong community. It would be such an easy fix, but it cannot be done if administration blocks every attempt to improve the situation just to maintain total control.

Thank you for noticing this notice. Your noticing it has been noted and will be reported to the authorities.

ABP for the win. I block pretty much any image that's not part of a post, i.e. no avatars, no rank images, signatures, w/ever. It'd be nicer if the forum software itself allowed for this, of course...

Yeah, that looks like a management issue to me. On one hand, you obviously don't want to give everybody and their uncle Bob full root access to the server so they can reprogram the forums, on the other hand Kev seems to kinda be a bit lacking in the technical expertise department wrt server maintenance(?) and forum software extensions/modifications. If he could find someone he trusts enough to help and/or take over a few of those things (i.e. he'd have to give up a bit of control), I think it'd go a long way imho.

I think part of it is assemblers limited time and thats understandable, he has to make the graphic, and make the changes, rank images are here to stay, the images currently in use likely are not.

Maybe we should pool together and have a forum competition for our graphics inclined members. Winner gets pizza money or something.

hell i threw this together in 5 mins. its transparent, has the classic assembler bomberman theme. has a gaming font [although it is crap, my font collection is awful at the moment] you can't tell me somebody like Hexagon isn't going to throw together something 5000x better with the promise of pizza money.

The continual apologetic / accepting attitude of members doesn't help.

I'd toss in some pizza money towards a post icon re-design though. Especially as I'm getting nearer the 2k one, which is ghastly, meaning a potential (spam) drive to 3k posts.

As an aside, seems (some of) the (newer) mod squad is rather aggressive at present, flexing those new muscles in not the most friendly and polite ways. Something of a surpise tbh, even when counting the 'making a mark' factor.

Yet it took weeks for a racist troll to be banned.

    :(

New moderators, don't want to look trigger happy/aggressive. I certainly don't. Here and there I'll be blunt and tell it straight out, sometimes people just don't listen.

We also have to follow Kev's orders, if he doesn't want someone banned instantly, we have to follow that order. Everyone who isn't staff, doesn't know what happens behind the scenes.
Although I agree amiga had more than enough warnings, we just do what we're told to do.

Fair enough. I do appreciate that you mods are not the final say. Perhaps though you should be given a bit more freedom, leeway, whatever. After all, you were thought to be good mod material based on your actions, standing, reputation and judgement, and thus chosen to be mods. I think everyone here approves of the choices!

If anything I'm being a little evasive in my postings, dancing around the key issue as I see it. It isn't the most pleasant one to dicsuss.

But sod it, this is a free voice thread, and I am not falling foul of anything in the guidelines in the first post.

It strikes me that currently this place is only considered to be a 'community' either when we are all doing as we are told, or when something is wanted from us (money, or items for the site).

    That is not respectful.
    That is not welcoming.
That is not how it used to be.
    That is not a community.

    Edit...

Hmm, a difficult and emotive subject I feel. On a re-read I'm also displaying shocking hypocrisy with/and a lack of gratitude, for which I apolgise. This is Kevin's baby, we don't have to come here.

However, as soon as 'community' is mentioned, a higher bar is set, one that cannot be cherry-picked, one that must remain constant.

I think that gets my point across more reasonably :)

Oh, it's about him. That f*cker made his way on my ignore list really, really fast, so I haven't had to read much of his drivel (only some bits that others had quoted). I'm a strong supporter of hellbanning people like that (not kicking them out outright, giving them a chance to improve (that very rarely happens though tbh)), but unfortunately very few forum systems seem to have that option. Otoh some don't even have ignore, so thank god for small mercies.

Oh, and can we please get a red and black skin back. We did for a time, then it disappeared again. If it costs $$, I'll pay.

(reply to the radiation question) Damn for all the "be courteous" reminders the mods and admin do this was harsh. Read the original thread and the replies were a little insulting to the OP. Jesus sorry that not everyone is not part of the STEM master race. Apart from that, I agree with some of the posts above this.

Dude, that's over a year old. There's always been the odd sharp (I might even say 'better than thou') comment like that.

Bigger fish to fry these days, and I'm not talking about my dinner.

    My rant:

While I get along with HEX1GON and retro - since their promotion to moderators, they have gone into pedantic nazi mode. Its really uncalled for, the site really doesnt need that amount of ruling with an iron fist.

I think we have had more locked threads (that dont need locking) in the last year, than we have in all the ones I have been here put together.

Borman is doing it right IMO.
