It works completely fine. I installed mine yesterday with nearly none soldering knowledge but I managed it. It's working just like it should, thank you very much!

I am using 32GB micro SD (Suntrsi) with some generic brandless adapter.

What would be the best way to fasten the reader to the case? Should I drill a hole and push a screw through the hole in the addon board?

 

Double sided tape or glue and yea a screw can be used which is why there is a hole in the board to screw it down.

Edit: I just re-read your post and the addon is the smaller board which gets SOLDERED to the back of the Serial connector, you don't drill or screw anything to it.

 

Oops, I mean't the SD reader had a late brain fart. My apologies. Yea the addon board was soldered
