It's not from Dune II but Dune - different game, different music composer (Stéphane Picq), different developers (Cryo).
Its great music though from a great composer and developer. Cryo and Stéphane Picq also collaborated on the MegaRace 1 soundtrack for PC, 3DO, and Sega CD. Stéphane Picq is also working with Jordan Freeman Group and ZOOM Platform on the MegaRace Reboot: http://lightningreleases.com/stephane-picq-officially-joins-megarace-reboot-team/ http://jalopnik.com/i-dug-up-the-ultimate-retro-futuristic-hard-driving-sou-1750352900 https://www.facebook.com/megaracereboot https://www.facebook.com/zoomplatform https://www.zoom-platform.com/#home
Yes! You are right! Still a great tune! I dont think I muted the sound on that game at all while playing. Even tho I loved Dune II, I wish they made a sequel to Dune. I was hooked by the storyline.
Which part of the game is that track from? I don't remember it. Did the music on the amiga version differ from the PC version in any way?
The storyline of the first Dune game followed the book/movie with some small deviations (Arrakeen does not get invaded for example). The book had plenty of sequels, and Dune II's storyline then had Dune 2000 and Emperor: Battle for Dune (which was swan song of Westwoods RTS games). The amiga version had 3 MOD tracks, Ecolove, Free Men, and Wormsign. The last two were also in the PC version, but I don't think Ecolove was.
Interesting. Seems the PC soundtrack is completely different from the amiga version. This is the music I remember from the PC version:
The PC version soundtrack was GREAT, and the Spice Opera disc is easily one of the best VGM albums worth owning. Check the Adlib Gold versions of the soundtrack, there is a youtube recording there that uses the echo module. Some of the tunes are notably shorter, but some others sound ridiculously better. The "Wormsign" track is so bassy, it can punch a hole in your wall.
