So i have a lot of bookmarks in chrome and what i want to do is stop them from appearing in the search box because it gets in the way of trying to search for things and i use the bookmarks bar anyway to find and launch any bookmark.

So does anyone know if i can do this and how i would go about doing it.

    Thanks.

Can you take a screen shot showing this? I use Chrome all the time and I've never noticed this before.

So i removed or rather exported all my bookmarks and then deleted them from chrome but then created a few other bookmarks.

The links with the star before them are in my bookmarks and as i search they show up as a search option but i don't want them to do that mainly because A) i use the bookmarks bar to find them and B) my sister sometimes uses my computer for internet when she visits so of course there a sites i'd rather she not notice.

Figured it out!!! Here is what you have to do.

Go to Preferences, and then Under the Hood and you should see an option that says the following:

Use a prediction service to help complete search and URLs typed into the address bar.

After you do that quit and re-open Chrome. THEN you need to clear all data from Chrome expect for saved passwords.

Now nothing will be logged when you type in the address bar in chrome.

    Hope this helps.

Disjaukifa thanks for the suggestion which does work but it doesn't then let me search anything else within the address bar.

I still want to be able to search for websites and everything else from within the address bar as normal except without bookmarks showing up.

    Exactly.

Right now i export my bookmarks and delete them from within chrome to get round the problem but that's not ideal when my sister or whoever decides they want to use my internet whilst i am on my pc and i don't get time to do that.
