    *******UPDATE*********

All working now, if you're planning to do this mod be sure to have a continuity tester as going by "eye" won't allow you to see micro fractures in the solder.

Following mmmonkeys instructions (http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/sega-dreamcast-region-free-bios/) on installing a piggyback bios to flash the Dev bios I have come across an error while flashing.

as the flashing process starts I get the error "Unknown manufacturer/device pair 97/ff.... we'll assume you know what you're doing!"

and get the following error when completed:

These were the chips I purchased:http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/311139072509?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I have verified that all legs are connected, anyone have more info or thoughts?

If the device ID is wrong, you have a soldering problem or the chips are fake.

(this is assuming no bugs in dreamshell, but I'd imagine I'd have heard about it by now if there was)

Thanks for the fast reply, I'm going over each leg again now to triple check they are all connected.

Welp... after going over it multiple times i've managed to get it to go from 97/ff to df/ff, it's obviously something i'm doing wrong.

    I'll keep at it.
