    Hi there you guys!
I am so excited to show you a Game Boy mod I just finished today.
It have taken me a very long time to collect all of the parts, and get everything in place.
I got the last pieces today and I thought I would show you what I did.
The inspiration for the project comes from the Game Boy Color - Special Pokémon Edition.
Having always been a fan of the design, I was inspired by Thursday Customs (who also did a really cool one) to give a DMG that look aswell!
Enough talk! Let's see the machine!

Just so everybody know what I mean, when I say Game Boy Color - Pokémon Edition.

I started by making the "3D" Pokémon logo into "2D", like it was on the Color.
I then printed it on Water Slide Decal paper.
A very tedious material to work with!

Next up, was recreating the screen cover into a DMG styled one.
I bought a clear screen protector from Kitsch-Bent, and got the screen protector printed from my local print center.

Since I didn't want to use replica housings, I needed to get myself a blue and yellow DMG Game Boy.
Unfortunately the "Start" text on the yellow casing was a litlle worn.
I had to purchase new colored buttons as well, I will come back to that.
When all put together here is what it looks like :D

As you can see here, the green and the red buttom is not smooth, like normal DMG buttoms would be.
They were bought from HandHeld Legend, and I know he himself isn't satisfied with the buttons.
However, they where the only ones I could find at the moment, so I will have to settle with them for now :)

I choosed this screen protector because I've always enjoyed the red light in the Pokéball :D

Here is a last picture for you this time around :D

One day I would like to get a couple of good looking buttons, and a Yellow housing which isn't worn.
But overall I think I had sucess in the making of this one.

Let me know what you think of the project in the comments!
Shoud I add a backlight, internal prosound, bivert as well?
Or should I keep this one more close to a "Original kinda thing"? :D

    Thank you!

Nice! I think if you're doing mods like this, you may as well go all out with backlights and such.

Very cool! I also always loved how the pokeball lit up. I just got into gameboys recently and picked up a few gameboy colors to mod. I cleaned them up real good last night and later this week I'll be adding front lights. :)

So was the shell painted or is it some custom made shell? Nice work! I could never get them damn decals to work properly.

Thank you all so much for all of the kind words!
I am really happy that you all like it so much.
It have taken quite some time to gather all of the parts, design everything and put it all together.
So it really means alot to me that all of you likes it so much :)

It is a tricky material and I haven't ever used it before, so It took me quite a lot of practice to get right.
Being kind of a perfectionist was exactly helping me either :D

The backlight I have purchased is a Handheld Legend V2 White backlight.
I have good experience with the white one, and of the ones I have tried it comes out with the best results.

No shell isn't painted, that was one of the things I wanted to avoid.
I used a Water Slide decal for the Pokémon logo, and a print center printet out the screen cover for me :)

I will problably mod this DMG in this weekend, I will upload a picture of it.

Once again, thank you all very much!! :D

    Wow very nice :).

The only thing I could criticize is the placement of the Pokeball over the power light. Wouldn't it be better centered? Though it isn't on the GBC one so that makes sense.. (You'd think i'd remember this considering I have been around quite a few of these. And one prominently back in the day)

    Update!
So I got around it yesterday, and started to pro sound and bivert the Game Boy.
Here is a couple of pictures.

Today I got around backlighting it!
And it came out great too!

Unfortunately I have had some issues with the front screen.
I will probably need to get a new one done.
Nothing too major, it will get fixed soon :)
But here it is, pro sounded, Biverted, and backlit!
    Hope you like it!
