Site Suggestion Can we do a ASSEMblercon?

Can we? It would be a great idea. Everyone could meet up and chat with each other. We could also have panels relating to big stuff on the site and what not. We could even get the nightly (EST/EDT) shoutbox crew to do a panel. We could also have displays of the protos and other stuff we have acquired over the years. We could also do trades in person and some of the sellers in the marketplace could set up small shops there.

We would need to do a fundraiser and we would have to find a place to hold it. I suggest the Orlando Convention Center but that's because it's closer to me lol.

Also, please don't forgot to get good food.

I think a lot of our users are too scattered across the globe to make this realistic. Sure you could have a US meet-up, but it would feel like some important people are missing.

 

Yeah, it wouldn't feel right if you weren't there, Chief. So you better get on a plane!

Have you looked up how much it costs to travel to Japan lately? It's too expensive. Plus, I've never been on a plane and I don't have a passport.

 

Oh yeah, because a medium to large congregation of almost exclusively foreigners wouldn't look suspicious at all...

I'll eventually make it to America, and when I do I'll probably attempt to meet at least some people.

I would be down for this. Basically we'd need to narrow down where the interested members are and figure out a good radius to cover. Have maybe 10-15 across whatever parts of the globe are needed. Set up webcams that can communicate between all areas. It'd be moderately hectic, but I think it could be coordinated. The NY idea isn't horrible; I'm not incredibly far from there.

An AssemblerCon can be awesome. But as lots of us said, kind of hard to find the correct place ! And my place (France) doesn't look to be the safest place right now. But if some of you come to visit France, we can totally have a meet up and play few video games !

Sell the whole XBOX collection and you'll be set Really though, Some of our best members and staff here are all over the planet. It's a great idea to host, but it would take insane amounts of planning.

 

An ASSEMblercon in a convention center would never happen, not enough people would show up to make it even remotely worthwhile. Besides, cons aren't exactly easy to set up like those Tumblr people found out last year.
