The screen resolution is 1024x768 ffs!

Also it may be "unlocked" but the modem in it only lets you use 3G with AT&T in America, so you are pretty much forced into using one of the worst networks.

Also the MicroSim thing is limiting your choices until other networks start bringing out their own MicroSim's.

Apple have jumped the shark, but I dare say, like the (launch period) Wii and DS, people will just lap it up and accept a rubbish product just because they are told it's cool.

It would be nicer if it looked like it does on the SDK.

I'm struggling to decide just how useful this will be. I immediately thought of Dom Joli shouting into it like a giant iPhone the second I saw it. It's hardly something you can stick in your pocket, therefore it's not necessarily a strictly mobile device. So, you'd have to have a netbook carry case. Therefore what is the advantage? Okay, a larger screen, which I get, but when actually using it as an input device (keyboard or manipulating it for apps etc) you have to either lay it flat, which is crap or have it in your lap. Stabbing at a screen with your fingers whilst sitting on a train or plane would suggest a netbook (which folds) would be easier.

It's a very expensive book / newpaper reader and whilst watching a film, I don't want to hold it!

The next thing is Apple will supply accessories like a plate stand lol

    Parris excitement level = 0%

Sshh, don't give Jobs more ideas, I am sure there will be

"iStand $99, allows you to use your new iPad on tables, comes with 3 postions of flat, upright and reflect the lights. Eco design, made of sustainable wood source from the heart of the Brazilian rain forest and doesn't require recharging."

Tablets are a waste of time. What is the point of them? They're too big to be truly portable, too impractical to replace a laptop or even a netbook, to bloody expensive for what they are, a underpowered poor excuse for a web browser on the "move".

Honestly, IMO the only truly great innovation from Apple is the i-phone. Forget the i-pod since there are and have always been better sounding MP3 players on the market. OK, i-pod probably kicked of the way forward but since then there's been many better players on the market. So far the i-phone is the only true Apple product that hasn't been surpassed by anything yet but there are a few very good contenders including Google's own branded phone that has twice the screen resolution of the i-phone, SD CARD!!! and REPLICABLE BATTERY! It doesn't have the app selection mind you but still good enough.

I guess i'm one of the very few people on the internet who is actualy looking forward to getting an IPad. But i guess with so much hype and rumours for so long it's natural for people to be dissapointed because they thought Apple would do something they wanted rather then setting their own standard like they always do.

I cant say how disapointed I am with this thing: the shell alone is a joke, any shopped pic before launch was better than what we got.

The A4 chip? just a A9+GPU, no snapdragon killer here, barely a response.

And multitasking! the Pre plus being smaller than the iphone can run 50 apps at the same time, but this thing still has to close one to open another, unbelievable...

But heres my question: what it does that you cant with an iphone/touch? it even lacks things like a real GPS, but has a compass! which would be great in 1994 but today?

Not saying it will flop, just that it wont be another iphone, mainly because its the same thing but 3 years late, and with less functions.

I say wait and see: considering how different the 3G iPhone was to the original EDGE, the 2nd gen iPad should be much better than this.

That or pay the early adopter tax...

Arthur C Clarke is spinning in his grave.

The most sad thing is, this overpriced digital photo frame will actually sell, because it's made by Apple.
