This article contains info about a FIFA source code leak: http://kotaku.com/5882488/when-ea-sports-accidentally-put-a-games-source-code-on-a-demo-disc
FIFA 97 being one of the first games I ever played [It's the first pirated game I used to own - that's what I remember] this sounded interesting.

It doesn't specificly say which version had its source leaked though. All we do know is : "FIFA PC source code from 1997".
So what we are looking for is probably a demo for FIFA 97 or a Demo for FIFA 98 released around ~1997.
I already contacted Yossarian about it but he wasn't working at EA at the time so he can't give any more details.

I checked these [did not actually dive into the file formats and just searched for some keywords]:

    PC Gamer 4/97 https://ia601005.us.archive.org/iso...cgamer-coverdisc-1997-04/1997-04_Disc_3.1.iso
    Fileplanet FIFA 97 http://www.fileplanet.com/11239/10000/fileinfo/Fifa-97
    Fileplanet FIFA 98 http://www.fileplanet.com/11243/10000/fileinfo/FIFA:-Road-to-the-World-Cup-98
    PC Games 1/97 http://www.kultcds.com/Catalog/index.php?n=1048&f=$2FDemos$2FFifa97

    - No luck so far.

So I was wondering if anybody had any cover discs with either of the FIFAs on it, possibly even FIFA 96. Also we should broaden the search: Maybe the PC Code even slipped onto a version for another platform.
It would be great if you could check your demo discs from 96 to 98 for the source code [or just FIFA 96 - 98 demos and tell me what magazine / year etc. Chances are most Magazine Discs are already on archive.org]

    Thanks!

    //Edit:

Alright.. this is pretty hilarious.. While searching the FIFA code I found this instead:
    http://www.kultcds.com/Catalog/index.php?n=774&f=$2FCdfun$2FEuro96 and http://www.kultcds.com/Catalog/index.php?n=1832&f=$2FDemos$2FEurosoc (Same files + Source)

Turns out 05/1996 (No. 71) of the French Joystick magazine leaked the Source Code to Actua Soccer / UEFA Euro '96..

Man, imagine what would've happened if HL2's at the time still in-development code was leaked onto the internet.

Stealing / accidently releasing to public are entirely different things though.

I'm at a point where I believe that the FIFA thing is a hoax or simple misunderstanding. It's highly unlikely that both, Actua Soccer AND FIFA were accidently leaked around the same time with the same mistake. I scanned countless cover CDs and Demo Disks - the only source code for a game demo I could find was in fact the Actua Soccer one.
If anybody does stumble on the FIFA code though inform me please.

I discovered the Euro 96 source code in my catalog (I run KultCDs) back in April of 2014.

I asked some of the developers of Actua Soccer/Euro/Ran and they said they had no idea the thing leaked. Also, a friend of mine aquired the source code for the MAc version of Euro 96 last year. (but he is not allowed to release it, afaik)
