I am dipping my toes in the PC Engine scene by first buying a cheap but broken CDROM2 from France that I hope to get refurbished at some point.
However I live in PAL land, and need to have my eventual setup modded to send RGB to my TV. I hope to get a PC Engine and the IFU.
Can the IFU be modded for RGB? If yes, does anyone know someone in Europe that could mod it, plus maybe repair the CDROM?
Or does the IFU actually need such a mod, and can the PCE send the signal itself and...
However, I'm wondering exactly how the region lock works.

The mod guide (and some other sources) claim that it's the games which check the region of the console unit, and if it's not US, thus don't run. This would mean the PIN 29 mod makes the chip pretend it's US region (or the games actually do an inverse check: if not Japanese,...
I haven't posted here in a while, I recently bought a pc engine duo that has been fully recapped and rgb modded and runs hu cards and normal disc games perfectly. However when I play a back up game my cd drive makes a high pitch noise and it only does this with back ups.

I have a LG blu-ray drive that burns lowest at 24x and also have a laptop that only burns at 10x speed. I used both of these drives with IMG Burn.

Should I invest in an old CD-ROM burner and perhaps get good...
There are small connectors like SCSI 68 pins that could fit inside and if you sacrifice a dead PCE or TG-16 for the standard connector, one could probably build a cable to connect the handheld system to CD system.

I don't have a schematic handy but I would assume all of the parts in handheld is the same as the console minus the ext connector.
